The global team of researchers, led by UQ's Dr. Jingwei Hou, Professor Lianzhou Wang, and Professor Vicki Chen, have unlocked the technology to produce next-generation composite glass for lighting LEDs and smartphones, television, and computer screens. The findings will enable the manufacture of glass screens that are not only unbreakable but also deliver crystal clear image quality. Dr.Hou said the discovery was a huge step forward in perovskite nanocrystal technology as previously, researchers were only able to produce this technology in the bone-dry-atmosphere of a laboratory setting. In this effort, researchers at  Tianjin University in China  have designed an easy-to-recycle, biodegradable plastic from DNA." Dayong Yang/ Tianjin University (China) A new plastic made from DNA is renewable, requires little energy to make and easy to recycle or break down. Traditional plastics are bad for the environment because they are made from no n-renewable petrochemicals, require intense heating and toxic chemicals to make, and take hundreds of years to break down. only  small fraction of them are recycled, with the rest ending up in landfill, being incinerated or polluting the environment. You can now violently shake your phone to report Instagram problems

Image
Instagram Meta-owned Instagram is probably one of the worst social networks in existence right now, as it (along with Meta’s other social network, Facebook) has faced scandal after scandal over the past few months. Even though the company isn’t doing much to address the countless mental health and misinformation campaigns ravaging the platform, there is a new feature that is pretty funny. I nstagram head Adam Mosseri shared a video on Wednesday ( via  The Verge ) that highlights two new features. First, the iOS app (and soon the Android version) now has the ability to remove individual photos from a carousel. Second, and definitely funnier, is a new ‘Rage Shake’ function coming to both iOS and Android. When you shake your phone, Instagram opens a dialog with a button for reporting problems with the app. You can also turn off Rage Shake from the same dialog, in case you accidentally activate it too often. It’s always fun when mobile apps or operating systems add functionality for shakin

Alliance to End Plastic Waste

Image
OVERVIEW Plastic is life-changing resource, but the same qualities that make it useful----- alongside poor management----- have created a global waste challenge. Here is what you need to know. Plastics boast a unique and useful set of properties. They are polymers, long chains of molecules made from repeating links called monomers, often produced from chemicals like petroleum. Its molecular structure can be engineered to present different characteristics—to be flexible or hard, transparent or opaque. They are durable, strong, lightweight, water resistant, and relatively easy and inexpensive to manufacture. Most modern plastics are made from fossil fuels like natural gas or petroleum; but as new technology emerges, plastics are also being produced from renewable materials like corn or cotton. There are thousands of patented plastics spanning countless sectors, all with unique attributes that make them fit for purpose. Plastic in our daily lives Plastic is virtually irreplaceable because

CYBERNIC TREATMENT: Recovering Lost Bodily Functions

Image
Cybernic functional regeneration treatment using Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL) may become a new standard treatment for all neurological ambulation disorders such as neuromuscular diseases including SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) etc. When a person intends to move a part of her or his body, the brain sends nerve signals to the muscles. People with physical disabilities, whose nervous systems are damaged cannot send these signals reliably to the muscles, resulting in difficulties moving as they would like. Such disabilities have been considered difficult to treat until now. However, a newly developed “cybernic treatment”, revolutionary robot treatment system that will regenerate and improve the patient’s own brain-neuro-physical functions, has begun providing dramatic changes in patients’ abilities to move autonomously. Cybernic Treatment dosen't strengthen muscles. Instead, it improves connections with the nervous system Mechanism: ~ When a person i
